WRONG..
WOULD YOU BUY THE HOUSE IN THIS CONDITION? NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE TELLS YOU COMMON SENSE DIRECTS YOU TO ANY OTHER HOME WITHOUT A CRACK? WHY IS THAT?
CRACKS ARE CAUSED FROM A VARIETY OF CONSTRUCTION MISTAKES BUT THEY ARE NOT INEVITABLE-- QUALITY BUILDING PRACTICES VIRTUALLY ELIMINATE THESE.CALL A CRAFTSMAN FOR THE PROPER PROCEDURES.
WARNING SIGNS
EPOXY ON A WALL OR FLOOR IS A BLINKING RED LIGHT THAT THE HOME HAS UNKNOWN ISSUES. COVERING UP A CRACK DOES NOT FIX A MOVING FOUNDATION. IF YOUR INSPECTOR CAN TELL YOU IF ITS GOING TO MOVE FURTHER BY LOOKING AT IT, GET A LOTTERY TICKET FROM THEM AS WELL..
SURE THEY WERE IN YOUR BUDGET, BUT DID YOU PUT ASIDE MONEY FOR THEIR INCOMPETENCE? OF COURSE NOT...THEY TOLD YOU THEY HAD EXPERIENCE AND COULD COMPLETE THE PROJECT...WHY WOULD THEY LIE?
THIS PIERING JOB BROKE THE PATIO WITHIN MONTHS OF INSTALLING IT. BRILLIANT.
SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND REPLACED BUT PIERING SOUNDED MUCH EASIER.
FAILED EPOXY JOB
EPOXY IS NOT A PANACEA FOR FOUNDATION PROBLEMS. IT HAS ITS USE, AND CONTAINING WATER FROM COMING INTO A BUILDING IS ONE OF THEM. KEEP IN MIND IT IS NOT SOLVING THE PROBLEM--WATER OUTSIDE YOUR FOUNDATION IS THE PROBLEM. EPOXY SIMPLY BLOCKS ONE PATH THE WATER WAS USING, NOW IT IS LOOKING FOR ANOTHER WAY IN.
CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS ARE BUILT DIFFERENT THAN A CONCRETE RETAINING WALL. A FOUNDATION IS NOT ENGINEERED TO TAKE EXCESS WATER LOADING WHEN IT IS BUILT. IT IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT YOUR WOODEN STRUCTURE PLACED UPON IT. THINKING YOUR FOUNDATION CAN CONSTANTLY SUPPORT HORIZONTAL LOADINGS OF WET SOIL AND WATER PUSHING AGAINST IT IS NOT LOGICAL. IT OFTEN RESULTS IN LEANING WALLS AND BROKEN WALLS.
ITS NEVER OKAY
THIS PICTURE SHOWS EXACTLY WHAT CLAY DOES- EXPAND AND CONTRACT WITH MOISTURE . CONCRETE DOES NOT HANDLE MOVEMENT VERY WELL. CRACKING WILL RESULT. IN FLATWORK MINERALS FROM THE SOIL MIGRATE TO THE SURFACE AND CAUSE OTHER ISSUES. IF ITS UNDER YOUR CONCRETE SOONER OR LATER YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE PROBLEMS.
